Davco's range of primers are designed to increase the bond strength of tile adhesives and waterproofing membranes in interior and exterior applications.
Primers are an important component in tiling as they improve the bonding of the tiling system to the substrate, as well as improving the working characteristics of the tile adhesive. Primers are important to ensure a long lasting guaranteed tiling system.
Good primers regulate the adsorption rate of tiled surfaces. This results in better water retention leading to longer curing and therefore ultimate strength as well as increased open time for the tile adhesive. An increased open time means more adhesive can be spread and more tiles can be laid.
Davco primers are formulated to penetrate the substrate and seal in difficult to remove dust helping the adhesive to work more effectively. They also increase adjustment time of tiles so if a tile is out of line, you have more time to adjust it.
Inadequate or incorrect surface preparation is the most common cause of failure when bonding tiles onto surfaces. Therefore, Davco recommends the use of a primer on all substrates to be tiled, other than substrates covered with a waterproofing membrane.
